Leather Rope Can Covers
You have a lot invested in ropes and gear, so protect and keep them neat and ready for the next run. These are one of those items that you want done in a custom pattern. Why be like everyone else, when you can design it and have it your way? I can use the rope can you already have, and normally keep a few in stock as well. As a user, I preferred the Smith Brothers “Sierra” rope cans, and date back to when they only came in a tan color. They are heavier than other cans, and hold up for the abuse of rodeos. I have done these covers tooled, with inlays, and a really popular option is a pocket. It makes a place to keep your watch and wallet or carry your spurs without getting them covered with powder. The leather portion of these begins at $200, and I am priced competitively on new cans as well. I also do goat string cans for junior and lady competitors. Please scroll on down and see a few examples. Let’s face it, the carry strap that comes standard with the rope cans isn’t much. Upgrade your can or bag with a custom made strap tooled to match. These are done in the same pattern as your can or bag, lined and stitched, and are made to last. The snaps at both ends mean you can snap them to the arena fence or lead-up alley rail and keep your gear up out of the mud or dust. They can be made longer to loop over the saddle horn or your shoulder, or shorter for hand carrying. Popular options for these are a hoof pick pocket and a powder pocket for last minute preparation before your run. These straps start at $80 and will vary according to tooling patterns and pockets.
