Y-Knot Lace Cutting and Beveling Tools
We are pleased to be offering lace cutting and beveling tools from Barb Sorenson at Y-Knot Lace. Personally I have used each of these in my shop and can recommend them. These are a simple and affordable way to step up your lace quality and production.
Combination Beveler and Lace Cutter
This bench mounted combination beveler and lace cutter tool has modular attachments that will cut lace to width with a straight up blade, bevel at 30 degrees, and bevel at 45 degrees. It has a precision thumbwheel adjust for setting the guide width and registration markings for repeatability. The cutting is done with single edge razor blades for all functions. The mounting bracket is supplied and a small base attaches to a board or bench top. The working part can be adjusted for position on or over the edge of the bench and then removed when not in use if you like.
Y-Knot Large Lace Beveler
The large Y-knot Lace beveler will bevel lace, saddle strings, up to almost 1inch in width. It has slots for 15 and 30 degree bevels. The blades are carpet blades and readily available at many hardware stores. The carpet blades have two edges so you can break them in half with pliers or tape the exposed edge for safety. You can also use single edge microtome blades (Amazon). This tool has two mounting holes to screw down to a bench or board.
Y-Knot Double Side Lace Beveler/Cutter/Splitter
This double side lace cutter, beveler, and splitter tool mounts with a supplied slider bracket for mounting. It has some features of several other string and lace cutters on the market. It will cut lace to width, It has a flat slot for splitting lace and strings to thickness. It has a concave slot for "crowning" or beveling both sides of the lace in one pass. It uses single edge razor blades for the functions.
